THERAPY ROOTED IN THE SCIENCE OF PSYCHOLOGY AND AN INDIGENOUS LENS

YOU KNOW THIS FEELING

What anxiety actually feels like

Your mind won't switch off

It's a pro at overanalyzing. It plays out

every possible scenario, then forecasts the worst one without missing a beat.

You stop doing what you love

You cancel plans at the last minute. Not

because you don't care, but because your mind is racing and going feels like too much.

Your body is on high alert

A racing heart, a tight chest, tense

shoulders, a breath you can't quite catch,

even when nothing is technically wrong.

“
Anxiety is your mind trying to protect you. It's a signal worth
listening to, not something to push through.

THE WHOLE PICTURE

Signs your anxiety needs attention

Anxiety shows up differently for everyone. We look at all of you:

mind, body, spirit and how you're living day to day.

Emotional

Feeling uneasy, irritable, fearful, restless or out of control. Moments of panic.

Mental

Constant worry, racing thoughts, overthinking, and needing reassurance.

Physical

Headaches, racing heart, tense muscles, stomach aches, and exhaustion.

Spiritual

No time to breathe, slow down or do the things that ground you.

Behavioural

Trouble sleeping, changes in eating, avoiding people, places, or tasks.

WHY CULTURE MATTERS

Anxiety doesn't happen in a
vacuum.

For a lot of us, anxiety carries extra weight: being the only Indigenous person in the room, racism at work or in the health care system, carrying your family and community with you, and the pressure to prove you belong. Add intergenerational trauma, and it makes sense that your nervous system is on high alert.

You shouldn't have to explain colonization, residential schools or the Sixties Scoop before you can get to what brought you in.

HOW THERAPY HELPS

Practical tools that help

Therapy brings together evidence-based psychology and Indigenous values, so the tools actually fit your life. Anxiety treatment isn't one-size-fits-all.

01

Understand your anxiety

What triggers it, where it comes from, and how it shows up in your thoughts and your body.

02

Calm your nervous system

Skills from CBT and DBT to slow racing thoughts, settle your body and get through the hard moments.

03

Get back to what matters

Stop avoiding the people and places you love, and rebuild your confidence one step at a time.
